The 2015 CrossFit Games Open

What is The Open?

The CrossFit Games Open is a five-week competition during which you will be able to compare your scores to tens of thousands of other athletes across the globe. For the world’s top athletes, it is the first step towards Regionals, and ultimately The CrossFit Games you see on ESPN every summer. For the rest of us, it’s a time to test our athletic capacity, and perhaps surprise ourselves with new milestones and set goals for the future.

Who Should Do The Open?

Everyone is welcome to sign up for The Open! The entry fee is $20. In addition to a regular division, there is also a masters division for athletes age 40 and up, subdivided by age groups.

This year you’ll also have the option to sign up for the brand new scaled division, with less loading or less advanced movements. 2015 will be the most inclusive CrossFit Open to date.

When is The Open?

15.1 Feb. 26 -March 2
15.2 March 5-9
15.3 March 12-16
15.4 March 19-23
15.5 March 26-30

Each workout will be released on Thursday evenings at 8pm EST. You can watch the livecasts at games.crossfit.com, or even better, come to CrossFit9 to watch them as a group!

At CrossFit9 we will complete the Open workouts on Saturday mornings at 7:30am and 9:00am. You will need to reserve your spot on Wodify by 8pm Friday evening to attend these classes, so we will be able to arrange for enough equipment and judges for competing athletes. If you cannot make it to those classes, you will need to arrange for a session with one of the verified judges listed in our CrossFit9 Open Facebook Group and on the white board at CrossFit9.

You will be responsible for submitting your results online through games.crossfit.com. CrossFit9 athletes must enter their results online by the following Monday morning at 10am, at which time we will complete a one-time verification of all your results.

If you are not doing The Open, that’s okay. You are still welcome to come to Saturday morning classes, and we encourage you to come cheer on your fellow 9’ers who are competing. However, if all the hubbub around the competition is just not for you, you may treat Saturday as a rest day and work out on Sundays instead. During The Open we will have special Sunday hours with 8–11am Open Gym and a 9am WOD.
